a beautiful life

When you walk in to the Ostrin's home. There is so much energy and love that greets you at the door. It's the kind of place you want to kick your shoes off and stay awhile. Karla has the place decorated so nice that you just want to gaze at all the decor holding so much character in each piece. They have 3 little ones and FOUR dogs (2 which are puppies) The openness of it all let's you feel like you can breathe. The kids are happy. and who doesn't love puppies at your feet??!! Lil' Emma runs the show! She put up a fight at the beginning but in the end she came through w. eyes that melted my camera. It was fun to see how much the kids have grown over the 2 years since I've shot them and to see this happy family as a whole (being this was the first time I met Gregg). They are a beautiful family and they have a beautiful life~.

QUEEN Andreen!

This woman deserves the title "QUEEN" ! She is one of those teachers that words can't describe... There are NO words that can articulate the kind of effect she has on her kids. She builds their self-esteem and makes them proud and confident of who they are. She helps them believe  in themseves and nurtures their strengths. She has had 2 of my 3 boys and prepared them both for 3rd grade... I can only hope,wish and pray my third boy gets so lucky to call Ms. Andreen, THE QUEEN, his teacher. And this is her beautiful family.

This was a special shoot for multiple reasons. They haven't had a family shoot in many many years and this shoot was at City Hall in Pasadena where Phil, Carol Andreen's husband, worked for over a decade. They have many memories here and she shared w. me how she used to push the stroller over and meet him for lunch. You could tell as she reflected back how many happy times this family has shared and it was neat to capture them on their stomping grounds.

Gallery wraps are yummy alone but even yummier when displayed together w. multiple images. You can create a gallery from a single shoot and fit it above your couch, or up your staircase or whatever blank wall needs to pop. And I promise they'll bring you JOY!!!

Lucy's Dedication

Little Lucy turned ONE and I can't believe how fast this year flew by. I remember shooting her on the day she entered the world. Being the youngest of four she will always be "the baby" and is NOT allowed to grow!The family combined her dedication with her birthday celebration and made it intimate and just perfect. Lucy's grandma Joyce , made a fabulous breakfast where we all feasted and celebrated Lucy!

I've had so many people asking for me to have a workshop. I started thinking about it... I am so much more of a one on one kind of person. I would LOVE to share my workflow and editing styles but don't really picture me teaching a "CLASS" . So what I've put together is a Mentoring session. This is geared for the aspiring photographer who is ready to take that next step.

Gretta the Graduate ~

So many moons ago, they honored my grandad w. presenting him "the Aol Burns Mall" . This was in the courtyard of Fuller Seminary and was to thank him for all that he had contributed throughout the years. I was in sixth grade and still remember my mother yanking me from school, bundled up in my overcoat on the cold winter day, in order not to miss the collaboration to honor my grandad. After that day.....my mind never really went there again, and there was never any reason for me to end up in the Fuller Seminary courtyard. 

So.... when Gretta called and I asked her where she wanted to shoot, I was caught off guard when she text me back. At your Grandad's mall ! Embarrassed I had to ask, "and where would that be???...exactly?"

Gretta just finished achieving her Master's at Fuller and on June 13th , she will be handed her diploma.  Gretta used to live with my sister and was not only a great friend but a great roommate, I know my sister is sad to say goodbye! She is so uplifting and fun to be around!!  So here we captured some shots of her in full gear ! Announcing Gretta The GRADUATE!

when you give 3 boys a hotel room.......

Ooooohhhh , how things escalate quickly :) , and you know that saying , "close as brothers" , adapting to 3 boys is always exciting , eye opening, and a lip biting experience! (I wish I could blog my gasp's , and warnings, and 1,2,3's for there were PLENTY! )

I love textures. I think they make a whole new window of art for the walls. . . This is just a dabble. More to come. :) They bring me joy~
